Ofsted is a non-ministerial inspectorate within the current United Hampshire public-administration settlement.

Ofsted provides independent inspection and regulatory assurance for the services assigned to it by the United Hampshire education and children’s-services settlement. It publishes inspection outcomes and thematic evidence and takes regulatory action where legislation gives it that function.

Inspection judgements must come from authorised inspection records. The public website does not invent provider grades, inspection outcomes or live regulatory status where no controlled record exists.
